Rhett Bergeron, M.D.

Dr. Rhett Bergeron attended LSU Medical School from 1988 until 1992. During medical school, he realized the inadequacies of conventional medicine based on drug therapies alone. He also realized the realistic possibilities of healing the body with nutritional and metabolic/immune therapies.

Additional exposure to complimentary medicine came in his third and fourth years of medical school when he joined the American Academy of Environmental Medicine. He attended scientific educational meetings with a focus on environmental toxic exposure and the internal metabolic and biological environment of the body.

After graduation from medical school, he completed a combined internship in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine (1993), and a Family Medicine residency (1995), both in the Charity Hospital system of Louisiana. He began to apply nutritional therapies to patients with success, but also realized the complexity of many of the more advanced disease conditions.

This led to the study of metabolic and immunological medicine. In 1996, he joined an immunology research lab studying the immune system in chronic fatigue/fibromyalgia and cancer. He also studied the response to cancer vaccines and various immune therapies.

Dr. Bergeron has also studied with various clinics around the world that specialize in biological/metabolic medicine.

His current practice integrates nutritional, metabolic, biological and immune therapies with conventional medicine in the treatment of chronic diseases. The emphasis is on identification of underlying causes of disease, patient education an d responsibility.

Bio-logical medicine utilizes a logical approach to identifying underlying causes and disturbances. Drug therapy is used to support the body, but it is acknowledged that when drugs are used for symptomatic or life-threatening situations, this does not correct the underlying causes or disturbances. Rather, nutritional, metabolic and immune therapies are used to correct nutritional deficiencies and metabolic pathways, promote detoxification, enhance the body immune defense system, and support the body’s ability to heal.
